Windows 10 End of Support Date is Quickly Approaching: Now is The Time to Start Planning
Posted 16 Sep at 7:15 pm in Business Continuity, Business, Security
With the end of support for Windows 10 on the horizon, it’s crucial to ensure your organization isn’t left operating outdated software that no longer receives security updates. Running unsupported software exposes your organization to serious security risks and potential compliance issues.
When Does Microsoft End Support for Windows 10?
Windows 10, which launched back in July 2015, has been a reliable operating system for nearly a decade. However, the end of the road is approaching quickly, with Microsoft officially ending support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, security updates, or reliability fixes for PCs running Windows 10.
While October 2025 is over a year away, replacing PC’s can take a while and you don’t want to be scrambling last minute, paying more for less while we’re competing against all of the other companies that waited until the last minute.

What Does End of Life (EOL) / End of Support (EoS) Mean?
When an operating system reaches its end-of-support date, the software will continue to function, but critical security and reliability updates will cease. This means that any vulnerabilities discovered after the EoS date will not be patched, leaving your systems open to exploitation.
Why You Need to Upgrade to Windows 11 Before the Deadline
Although you can technically continue using Windows 10 after support ends, it’s not advisable. Without ongoing security updates, any new vulnerabilities in Windows 10 will remain unaddressed, making your systems prime targets for cyberattacks. Hackers are aware of such EoS deadlines and often ramp up phishing and malware campaigns targeting organizations using outdated software. Over time, more and more security holes will emerge, increasing the likelihood of a data breach or financial loss.
Windows 10 End of Life: Upgrading to Windows 11
The good news is that upgrading to Windows 11 is free for existing Windows 10 users, but there are some important hardware requirements to consider. Not all Windows 10 machines will be eligible to upgrade due to stricter hardware specifications for Windows 11.
Two major factors will determine whether your PC can make the transition:
- If your PC has an Intel CPU older than the 8th-gen series or an AMD processor older than the Ryzen 2000 series, you won’t be able to upgrade.
- Additionally, Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0, a hardware-based security feature that enhances protection against attacks.
